Things of note for today:

1.) I love my wife, and I loved going to the farm with her this weekend to spend time with family. Blessed and refreshed.

2.) Hebrews 6:1-8 should be a great encouragement to the regenerate, and a dire warning to the religious.

3.) I do not believe this passage speaks to the Christians ability to fall away. I do believe this passage refers to the life who has tasted, and to some degree understood the goodness of God (v. 4-5), but continues in rebellion (“fallen away”) (v. 6). The Christian life is one of fruit. For the Christian to drink in the rain (to be full partakers of Christ) is to walk in repentance and the blessing of God (v. 7). “Thorns and thistles” (v. 8 ) are born of a life that rejects repentance and continues in unbelief (“to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.”) (v. 6)

4.) From John Gill – “Now there are some who have a saving spiritual taste of this gift; for though God’s people, while unregenerate, have no such taste; their taste is vitiated by sin, and it is not changed; sin is the food they live upon, in which they take an imaginary pleasure, and disrelish every thing else; but when regenerated, their taste is changed, sin is rendered loathsome to them; and they have a real gust of spiritual things, and especially of Christ, and find a real delight and pleasure in feeding by faith upon him; whereby they live upon him, and are nourished up unto eternal life, and therefore cannot be the persons here spoken of: but there are others who taste, but dislike what they taste; have no true love to Christ, and faith in him; or have only a carnal taste of him, know him only after the flesh, or externally, not inwardly and experimentally; or they have only a superficial taste, such as is opposed to eating the flesh, and drinking the blood of Christ, by faith, which is proper to true believers; the gust they have is but temporary, and arises from selfish principles.”

5.) NOW…the question was asked of me can someone be saved, and still believe that Christians can “fall away” from the faith. I say, yes. The Apostle tells us in Hebrews 6:1 the following verses will be hard (“let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity”). I understand there are differing views on this matter. I’ve stated what I believe the whole of scripture supports. I also believe these verses are not our beginning point in a conversation on salvation (again Hebrews 6:1 “not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God”). This is why I would say someone could be convinced it is possible to “fall away” and still be a Christian…even though we would disagree on what is being said in Hebrews 6.

6.) And with that I give you the Low Anthem ;)

7.) Feel free to conversate in the comments.

Things of note for today:

1.) I’m trying to figure out if it was the massive amounts of caffeine, the conversation during CG, or the storms that had the greatest impact on my lack of sleep.

2.) I believe examining life through God’s Word reveals the glory of Jesus Christ, and how kindly he beckons me to surrender, confess, believe, repent and follow. I believe interpreting God’s Word through the filter of my experience leads to impotent religion, the expansion of an already sizeable noggin, and furthers the delusion that I exist under the sovereign rule of me.

3.) The Triple Lindy.

4.) Today’s pick for the greatest song ever played on my computer today whilst I had the earbuds in my ears is this one (and if you’re a Boss fan see here).

5.) CG was good, praying God would continue to edify us, unite us in the gospel, and send us out! RIGHT ON!

Things of note for today:

1.) I finished The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich last night. The upcoming movie The Social Network is based on this book. My thoughts…LAME. Ben Mezrich is an entertaining writer, but that is not enough to save a story that isn’t very interesting to begin with. I think the major flaw of the book is that Mr. Mezrich never actually spoke with Mark Zuckerberg. So what we he tries to present as a “true” story is mostly educated fiction. Regarding the movie, I’m not even sure Justin Timberlake can save this drivel.

2.) Galatians 2:17-18 I’m wrestling through these two verses. They struck me as kind of odd. Is Paul elaborating on the reason why he rebuked Peter? Correcting Peter’s actions with sound doctrine.

3.) CG TONIGHT! Pumped and praying.

4.) I’m going nuts for the Great Value Cajun Trail Mix.

5.) This is the best song I have ever heard in the entire history of the last few minutes.

Things of note for today:

1.) Hearing good reports about Grandma Moore’s hip replacement. It seems she is rehabbing well.

2.) I think A29 needs endorsement deals with Apple and Moleskine.

3.) I think Apple need to release a Moleskine product line. Moleskine iPads, Moleskine Macbooks. Moleskine iPods.

4.) This is just a reminder to copyright the names Moleskapple, AppSkine, iMole, and Skinny Macs.

5.) Skinny Macs are an idea I’m working on for indie rockers, and dudes who own Chi hair-straighteners.

6.) Ephesians 2:4-9, Fully confident in what Christ has accomplished I still struggle to live as if salvation were a gift.

Things of note for today:

1.) For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

2.) Do you pray and meditate on scripture?

3.) I wish my fingers worked like Steven Delopoulos’s. I also wish I was a little bit taller. I have a girl who looks good, perhaps I will call her.

4.) I was glad to have found this. I like free music, and it’s icing when that free music is actually good. I’m particularly fond of the song All In Love.

5.) I’m playing for Chubs today.

Things of note for today:

1.) I’m thankful for confrontation. I’m thankful the Lord uses others to sharpen my life. I’m thankful for a sweetheart of a wife who will ask me if I’m being lazy at work. I’m thankful for what God is calling me to, and I pray that I would trust Him with each step I take.

2.) Acts 3 just got funked up in my head by Andrew Wartts & The Gospel Storytellers.

3.) Have you seen the little piggies? Why yes I have. They are nestled all snug in their blankets at the bottom of my belly.

4.) CG, let’s do this.

Things of note for today:

1.) Digging on Sam Cooke’s version of “Nearer to Thee”. That dude had some pipes.

2.) Excited about what God has in store for the community groups at Lifepoint.

3.) The Richard Swift/Damien Jurado team wasn’t all that exciting, but I did really enjoy “Hello Sunshine”

4.) I spent a lot of time researching the last project for this blog. It didn’t quite turn out as I expected, but I will still try to incorporate as much music as possible going forward.

5.) I just finished my first pass through the Chronicles of Narnia. I had some trouble with some of the theological elements of the stories, but was greatly entertained. I don’t know if C.S. Lewis was a universalist, but that seemed to be what he was implying at the end of The Last Battle.

6.) Persnickety.
